Answer: You can fly yourself or use friends or familiy only if the drone provider is an FAA Licensed pilot, the craft is registered, the pilot learns to fly, develop a maintenance and safety plan, and purchase high-quality editing software. DO NOT fly a drone for ANY commercial purpose with the appropriate license and training. Fines can as much as $25,000!!! In addition, if you have someone fly for you that is unlicensed you risk serious liabilities that could include criminal and civil! Imagine if your pilot crashes and damages property or injures someone and then reports to authorities that they were flying without a license for commercial purposes for a real estate agent from... such-and-such office. Is that a headline you want to read? Would you want you sales director or manager reading your name and office name in the paper over breakfast?
Answer: Aerial drone footage is rapidly becoming industry standard in real estate. More and more realtors are using drones to showcase properties on the emerald coast, Destin, 30A, and South Walton. You sellers will be asking if you have drone solutions. Buyers are more likely to view properties online with aerial footage. Are you willing to give up a commission to a competitor because you are not following modern trends?
Answer: Your return on investment is simple: MORE CLOSINGS! You will land more buyers when you show them the compelling ways you can showcase their home or commercial property! Your listings will get more views, which means YOU will get more views. Don't be left behind. We can fly you into more closings!
Answer: An FAA License is absolutely vital if you are using drone videos or photography for ANY commercial purpose. The fines that can be imposed by the FAA are significant - up to $25,000! In addition you can be subjected to more sever civil penalties if an accident occurs and you are unlicensed. Drone video flights are actually quite affordable. It is not worth the risk to try to "get away with it!"
Answer: Liability insurance alone is insufficient. Most business liability insurance policies have exclusions to aircraft. A business liability policy is will not provide any coverage unless it has a specific drone rider. It is also importatnt to understand the difference between drone insurance and drone liability insurance. Drone insurance only covers replacement of the aircraft in acrash. A liability policy is essential to cover any damages that could arise. Remember these are aircraft. While the chance is extremely remote that anything will go wrong with an experienced pilot, make sure you are covered and your pilot is insured.
Answer: Anyone can run over to Best Buy and purchase the newest drone. This does not make them a capable provider of quality aerial video and photography. Capturing quality video takes far more than a flying camera. A true videographer will plan their filming times, directions, shotlist, and focal points. Even after flying the video needs to be edited on a powerful platform. Windows MovieMaker may work to stitch images together, but it does not allow level adjustments, hue and saturation compensation, or gamma adjustments. Once a video is processed there is still more work to be completed. The video must be compressed and rendered specific to the platform on which you plan to deploy it. A 4K video rendered improperly will look terrible if compressed improperly. It will pixellate, lag, and buffer. Beautiful aerial drone footage is worthless if viewers become frustrated trying to watch it, or if the quality is distorted to the point of destroying the clarity.
Answer: The Emerald Coast is a very unique area in regards to airspace. There are special military operations areas, no-fly zones, civilian corridors, multiple small airfields, and heavy recreational traffic. A unmanned aerial system(UAS) drone pilot must be aware of the complexities of the Emerald Coast airspace. If your pilot only has the minimum certification training...proceed at your own risk.
Answer: This is an extremely important question. Drone operators must be familiar with integrated safety features on their platform, safety planning, and emergency procedures. Operators should be able, at a minimum to describe the following to you: return to home procedures, fly-away and lost signal recovery, emergency CSC functions, AGL restrictions, pre-flight procedures, and LOS restrictions. In addition, ALL FAA licensed operators must have a maintenance log and flight log. They should be able to produce to you their pre-flight checklist, maintenance plan, and flight log book. The FAA will require these in a spot inspection. If an operator cannot provide these to you, be concerned about how seriously they take their drone operations. Remember, these UAS are aircraft! They can be dangerous and even lethal. Don't trust an unprepared pilot for your project needs.
